Is a Heavy-Medium pole good for Northern Pike fishing?

I just got a Quantum burst bait-casting reel, and a quantum heavy-medium pole is this good for pike fishing? What pound test should i put on the reel? Im new with the baitcasting reel.

yes the pole is good i would spool it with 14 pound florocarbon

Yes. Spool it with 18lb mono. You can use braid or fluorocarbon, but since you are new to bait casting I would keep it simple and inexpensive so you don’t loose expensive line when you backlash, and you will backlash, it’s part of learning. Flourocarbon has advantages in being less visable to fish, so you can simply use it as a leader instead of sooping your entire reel with this type of expensive line.
