Leech Lake in Walker, MN. They have hotels and resorts all around the lake. I have a cabin in Akeley, MN, which is about 15 minutes from Walker, that i live at during the summer. I love fishing on Leech Lake.

As others have said Pike are easily caught all over the State.

However, trophy-sized Pike (Pike over the 38" mark) are only caught regularly on the border of Canada.

I don't think anyone can deny that the "border lakes" of Canada offer the best of ANY type of fishing in MN.

These lakes include: Lake of the Woods, Rainy Lake, Gunflint Lake, Loon Lake, Etc.

I try to make a trip to the Gunflint Lake area every year to catch Bass, Walleye, Pike & Lake Trout. If you want a pristine environment and limits of fish in the 50's-100's PER day, try any of the Border Lakes.

Here's where I go: Go to

We get a Camping Cabin.

Camping cabins work well for me and my family because they are inexpensive; eliminate the hassle of tent and camp set-up; are more secure and comfortable than ANY traditional tent camping; have electric facility's for heaters/electric coolers/hot-plates/ Etc and generally sleep better after a hard day of fishing.

Due to the many lakes in the area (some lakes see a HANDFUL of fishermen all year), your odds on catching a number of trophy Pike is pretty secure.

Go check it out.

The Brainerd/Nisswa Lakes Area is known for its outstanding fishing. Located in Crow Wing County, there are OVER 400 fishable lakes with public access in that county alone. Pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleye, panfish, bullheads & catfish, carp, yellow perch, and the "fish of a thousand casts" as they are called, muskellunge can be found in almost 100% of these lakes. In addition, you have the mighty Mississippi wandering right through the same area offering even more options which include more and bigger catfish and other lesser known species like sturgeon, buffalo, dogfish, etc. Because the area is one of Minnesota's most popular tourist areas, most business are dedicated to tourism and resorts and other related businesses abound. In addition, there are a lot of other recreational activities for nonfishing family members....LOTS of tourist-type shops, galleries, and mini-malls to visit when it rains, or gets too hot to be in the middle of the lakes with no shade. People literally come from all over the world to visit this picturesque and photogenic area so you can be sure it must be good. After all, there have to be some pretty good reasons that Al & Ron Lindner chose the neighborhood as the headquarters for their IN/Fisherman Magazine and its related radio and television programs. An a WHOLE LOT of other fishing celebrities got their starts there and have called it home as well, like Babe Winkleman, Gary Roach, and more. It really IS a great place to vacation, especially if fishing is your preference. Go for it and have a great vacation. (By the way, the absolute BIGGEST bluegill I ever saw in the water [dinner plate size] was just below my canoe on Round Lake. I never caught him and he's waiting there for you.) ;o)

You could get a lot better answer if you were more specific on when are you coming, what part of the state are you looking at, are you fishing from the shore or from a boat....? It all makes a difference. Most every lake has Pike in it....they are my favorite fish to catch and I do most of my fishing from the shore.

Well I live here, and Pike are prevalent on almost all lakes and are quite easy to catch.

I would try Cass Lake, I have been there and it is a beautiful area and There are no slot limits like Winnibigoshish or Mille Lacs.

This is the resort I stayed at.

But just about any lake trolling the weed edge @10 foot with a Rapala will get you Northern.

Our family used to go to Dead Lake, in Ottertail county. The nearest town is Peram. It is about an hour east of Fargo, ND. There are some Fishing resorts around the lake, and some private homes. In all the fishing up there was wonderful, and hardly ever came in without a full stringer.
