The ideal pike lure will depend on a number of factors including; the season of the year and the size of pike that you are aiming to catch. Spoons, for example, are used to mimic a wounded minnow. Tips on Landing a Trophy Sized Northern Pike

When fishing from a boat, landing a northern pike can be a little tricky. With a smaller pike, you may pull it out of the water with your rod. For larger pike it is best to land the pike with a net.

If you are practicing catch and release fishing, a rubber coated fishing net is your best choice to help ensure the survival of the fish after it is released.

The landing net will also help ensure the chances of actually landing the trophy pike for a picture, as opposed to seeing it grow several inches as it swims away.
